Holiday Feline Photos
I have a cat. This is probably not news to any of you, but it's still rather comical because my life is dogs, dogs, dogs and more dogs. Followed by more dogs. This is her second Christmas, and she now has the fluffiest tail I have seen on a cat yet. Time to annoy her with photos!
You will need...
*1 roll of wrapping paper (shortly destroyed)
*silver garland
*catnip
*feather cat wand - I hold this in one hand and smack it where ever I want the cat to look
*table & random item as paper weight to keep one end of paper on the table
*Camera with Flash angled to bounce off the wall behind me
I would normally use a backdrop stand, but I left that at the studio for use tomorrow. For something small like this it was really easy to just drape the paper off the table and weight the ends down with something minorly heavy.
Petals started out behaving like a little angel, but like any cat got bored a little easily.
Out came the catnip!
On a side note, wrapping paper does not stand a chance when another cat appears out of nowhere like a tiny demonic Koolaid man.
Peaches did manage to cooperate for about 30 seconds though...
Wrapping paper makes a great impromptu backdrop for anything smaller than a mastiff (if you're at the right angle, you could still swing a mastiff). Baby photographers usually have a zillion rolls of just 4 foot wide paper in different colors, and it's utterly brilliant. This trick works great with pets and anything relatively small. It's fun and easy to DIY at home, no matter what level of photographer you are.
